“I’m sorry…I know I’m behaving like a bit of a brat. I’m just really disappointed…” I said to a very concerned and confused looking waiter who had the unfortunate task of dealing with my sulking.”It’s just that I’ve been dreaming about this for so long and I head back to KK tomorrow!” I explained hoping he would not look at me like I was crazy.
To be fair, I can hardly blame the guy. How often do you see a grown ass woman in her late 20’s act like a 5 year old who just got her cookie stolen (minus the kicking, screaming and tears).
You must understand though, I have a thing about brunch. Not so much brunch actually, but more of an undying, borderline unhealthy love for Eggs Benedict.
It all started on a rainy autumn day in Dublin many years ago. I sat down in Avoca and had the best damn Eggs Benedict ever and fell in love almost immediately. Needless to say, I was disappointed repeatedly until one fine day I went to Singapore to watch Metallica (which was awesome!). One of my best friends repeatedly told me about this cafe that had gotten rave reviews for their Eggs Benedict. We went, we ate and I died several times over and never had a satisfactory brunch ever again. This was in 2013.
So you can understand my excitement when I found out that Wild Honey was finally opening up a branch here in KL. No more needing to fly to Singapore for brunch (this never happened of course). I could have it here, in my very own home.
So we went on over to Pavillion and despite it being a weekday – we still had to wait for a table. I however loved the waiting system, all you had to do was give them your number and they’d buzz you once your table is available -instead of you hanging around outside queuing up.

The space itself is great, both warm and welcoming, with a really great use of colour. It’s a little hoity toity but chill at the same time? If that makes any sense at all, but lets be honest, I had more important things on my mind.

Now the dish I wanted was the Delancey – Poached Eggs, Hollaindaise sauce with Beef Pastrami. And after my momentary melt down, I settled for the Tunisian (Shakshouka essenitally) and the Norwegian -poached eggs with salmon instead – which was to die for.
Now, the Tunisian tasted exactly the same as I remembered it, not a big fan – but it’s definitely better than most Shakshouka’s I’ve had. The Wild Mocha Dolche, is quite possibly the best the mocha i have ever had in my life.

And the Norwegian, with its smooth Hollaindaise, perfectly seasoned Salmon and poached eggs which were still runny, didn’t only look amazing, but has left me in a bit of a bind. Simply because I no longer know what I’m going to do when I head back to Wild Honey and have to choose between the Delancey or the Norwegian.
